I believe that Misha decides to start such an organization because he can relate in a way. Misha feels as if he were an underprivileged child (despite his enormous wealth) because he is both without a mother and a father. He also wants to leave some memory of him on Earth after his death, rather than just being forgotten.
I agree completely with Peter, that because Misha no longer has parents, he wants to be a parent to some poor Russian children. I think Misha is generally a campassionate person and the only reason he treats Timofey and other servants poorly is because that is the way he was brought up. I know that isn't a very good excuse but at least it is a reason.
Misha seeks immediate fulfilment. He wants to feel as though he has done something good, so he can feel good. Also I don't think that Misha treats Timofey that poorly he obviously cares for him, and he also shows some compassion for Timofey when he pays for his son's visa.
I think it's because Misha has serious issues. Whenever he feels bad and his Ativan isn't around, he feels like he is a worthless lump of fat, so either he lapses into some fantasy from his youth, or he does something shocking to prove to himself he's a good person.
This question brings up one the the strangest aspects of Misha's personality. I agree with the posts above which say Misha shows compassion towards the children because he wants to be a father figure to them. That is how he gets the name of his charity, 'Misha's Children'. I agree with Charlie when he says that Misha does not hate Timmofey. Rouenna confronts Misha on his mistreatment of his servants in her email to him and Misha responds by saying that he doesn't hate his servants, its just what he does.
I think we can all agree Misha has serious issues. Misha's new charity could certainly be a coping machanism. He seems to have a pathological need to feel as if he is doing something good. Bet really, this is not all that strange. We all want to do good, Misha just has the means to do it on a grand scale.
Because he himself is a child i think. It would make sense that Misha relates to children cause he himself is almost a child. And he has immense wealth and wants to help people because he is a good person at heart.
I think that Misha, who's childhood was originally of impoverished origins, creates this organization because deep down he relates to these poor Russian children even if the wealth he found later in life has made him seem like someone completely different.
I think it is because he feels like he is one of the kids. They are underprivelaged and he feels the same way because he grew up without a mother. He also wants to help them because he feels like when he was a kid he didn't get this help.

ReplyDeletei dont think he sees timofey as a person but just a constant that will always be at his side no matter what.
ReplyDeleteso maybe hes more open?
ReplyDeleteHe's making up for the fact that he is pretty much cruel to others. It's not for the kids, it's to reassure himself that he truly is a decent person.
