Question (this time not an accidental copy of Charlie's)

What aspect of Misha does sleeping with Lyuba show? (eg. It shows his willingness to disregard his father...... etc.)

  1. It shows Misha's lack of decision making skills and self-control. Only after having sex with Lyuba does he decide that it was too much, not before. It shows Misha is weak willed and easily manipulated (or seduced).

  2. I think this shows more about Misha's father and Russian culture. The only reason it happened is becuase Misha's father married someone his son's age. Also Misha says it is rude in Russian culture to not sleep with a woman who presents herself to you naked. This is obviously not an actual social rule, but I think something of a satire of Russian sexuality and customs.

  3. I also think that is shows his inability to cope with rejection and strong emotions. (Also sorry about the blog before I hadnt read anyone else's before posting mine.)

  4. like i said a while back misha craves stimulation. sex definitely is a kind of stimulation and by my guess its a pretty rare one for misha so im guessing he is more desperate and therefore it impairs his judgement.

  5. In response to Aldis, I think it just doesn't show a dark, disgusting side of Russian culture, but of the culture of the wealthy. I hear all the time of some sixty year old billionaire (Donald Trump) marrying a twenty one year old Brazilian model.

More then anything else, Misha's decision to sleep with his fathers wife shows his complete lack of self control.

  6. I agree with Charlie that it shows Misha's lack of decision-making. He doesn't realize the impact of what he did until after the act. To be fair, it was Lyuba that got him into it in the first place.

  7. It shows Misha's lack of respect for his father. It also shows his poor decision making skills.

  8. Freud was right. Misha has a ridiculously strong Oedipal Complex.
In addition to the Freudian psych, it shows the state of mind each of them were in right after Misha's father's death. They were so distressed, they needed physical comfort, and the most comforting thing possible to Misha is sex. Plus, Misha was never fond of his father's decision to marry someone who could be his sister, so it helps to get back at him.
